McPherson Systems M30G Air Curtain Burner (Trench Burner) — Description & Technical Overview
The M30G is a portable air curtain burner / trench burner engineered by McPherson Systems, Inc. for efficient, controlled disposal of wood, vegetative waste, and land-clearing debris. This unit employs high-volume air curtain technology to enhance combustion efficiency over traditional open burning methods. It is designed for use in forestry, land clearing, construction site cleanup, agriculture, storm debris management, and regulated burn environments.
Production & Throughput
Typical Burn Rate: 7–10 tons per hour of wood and vegetative debris under normal operating conditions. Throughput will vary depending on moisture content, material size, and loading practices.
The unit creates a uniform curtain of air across the burn pit, improving combustion efficiency and significantly suppressing smoke and ash emissions compared to open burning.
Design & Portability
The M30G is a self-contained, trailer-mounted system with dual axles (one equipped with electric brakes) and standard trailer lighting. The unit can be towed with a heavy-duty vehicle using a pintle hitch.
Setup Time: Approximately 15 minutes from arrival on site to operation-ready configuration.
The plenum and nozzle sections fasten together with a patented quick-hitch connection, allowing rapid assembly and teardown.
Burn Nozzle & Airflow
Nozzle Length: 30 feet (the “30” designation in M30G).
Nozzle constructed of 11-gauge steel with reinforced air outlets and designed to provide a minimum air velocity of 8,000 ft/min at the curtain.
The blower system delivers high-volume airflow (typically ≥25,000 CFM) to maintain an effective air curtain across the burn zone.
Powered by a Tier-compliant diesel engine with a 105-gallon fuel tank and standard safety features including emergency shutdown systems and engine lockout protection.
Interior / Burn Pit Dimensions
Because the M30G is a trench burner rather than a refractory liner box, it does not have a fixed interior refractory chamber like above-ground box burners. Instead, it creates a burn zone within a prepared ground or trench, sized by the user to match debris volume and project needs. The effective burning width is defined by the 30-foot air curtain nozzle, which establishes the combustion zone length over the pit.
Typical Use & Compliance
The M30G is deployed where EPA or local land management regulations restrict open burning, offering a controlled means of combustion with reduced visible smoke and particulate emissions.
Common applications include forest slash reduction, storm debris cleanup, logging residue disposal, land clearing, and construction site vegetative waste management.
